Cycle Marketing Campaign

Cornwall Festival of Cycling

Cornwall has developed a comprehensive marketing campaign with members of the Cycle Forum to help raise the awareness of cycling within Cornwall. The marketing campaign consists of a number of elements, some of which have already been launched through a rolling programme in 2004. The key elements of the campaign are:

  • to update the Cornish Way branding and publicity material including improved signage along the 200 mile route, posters at public transport interchanges and TICs and new maps of the routes;
  • actively support National Bike Week with employee incentives and activities;
  • to promote cycling benefits and opportunities at the Royal Cornwall Show;
  • to organise a 7 day ‘Cornwall Festival of Cycling’ campaign.
The Company of Cyclists 'Get Cycling' Roadshow

Cornwall Festival of Cycling 9-18th July

This hugely popular event involved the Company of Cyclists ‘Get Cycling’ Road Show, which visited 21 locations throughout the week including schools and town centres promoting the benefits of cycling through active participation and interaction. The event was organised in partnership with the Primary Care Trust with sponsorship from a host of public and private organisations.

The Festival of Cycling has received support and endorsement from the Department for Transport, Department of Health and the Department of Education as well as support from a host of local MPs.

The local media also showed an interest and the event was widely broadcast through local newspapers, radio and news channels.
